ETHICAL POLICIES OF THE JOURNAL
Publication and authorship
This publication policy highlights the importance of originality in the materials submitted to the journal Espirales. Authors are required to obtain the necessary permissions to reproduce any previously published material, ensuring its correct citation. Furthermore, although published articles do not necessarily represent the views of the journal, they are the sole responsibility of the authors. Should an author wish to reuse their article in another publication, they must obtain permission from the Editor of “Espirales” and ensure that the secondary publication clarifies the details of the original publication. This structure seeks to maintain academic integrity and proper recognition of original sources.
Authorship policy
To be considered an author of an article, individuals must have contributed significantly to the intellectual development of the work. Simply assisting in data collection or participating in specific techniques is not sufficient to be listed as an author. Generally, those listed as authors are expected to meet certain criteria, which may include: having participated in the conception or design of the study, having contributed to the analysis and interpretation of the data, having participated in the writing or critical review of the intellectual content, and approving the final version of the article prior to publication. These requirements ensure that all authors assume appropriate responsibility and recognition for the content of the work.
- Have participated in the conception and execution of the work that resulted in the article in question.
- Have participated in the writing of the text and in any revisions thereof.
- Have approved the version that will ultimately be published.
The Journal declines any responsibility for possible conflicts arising from the authorship of the works published.
The Journal adheres to the guidelines of the COPE
- Transfer of copyright
The judgments and opinions expressed in the articles and communications published in the journal are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the Editorial Committee or the institution that publishes them.
- Readers' rights
Readers have the right to read all articles free of charge immediately after publication. This publication does not charge any fees for publication or access to its material.
- Machine readability and interoperability
The full text, metadata, and citations of articles can be tracked and accessed with permission. Our open social policy allows for the readability of files and their metadata, promoting interoperability under the OAI-PMH protocol for open data and open source code. - Publication rights
If the document is accepted for publication, the reproduction rights will be under a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
Conflict of interest
The Journal expects authors to declare any commercial association that may constitute a conflict of interest in connection with the article submitted.
Due to the nature of the articles that may be published in the journal, conflicting interests may arise that could affect editorial impartiality or the authors. Therefore, each author must make an effort to identify any such conflicts.
In this regard, authors must attach to their article and statement of commitment a letter addressed to the journal clearly and concisely stating whether there are any conflicts of interest, specifying each one. In this letter, they must also specify the source of funding for the research carried out, as well as any commercial, financial, or personal ties that may affect the article or the publishing institution.
Procedure for duplication
For the duplication of texts, which consists of the possibility of copying or reproducing, one or more times, a literary content or work in a new medium (digital or any other format), the Journal follows the following general procedure: All editorial material for which duplication has been requested or determined shall be headed with a legend that clearly identifies its status as a duplicate and distinguishes it from the original.
To carry out this type of reproduction, the applicant must complete the internal duplication request form and send it to the journal's email address (see form). The form must be completed by the person responsible for the procedure, even when it is the journal itself that determines the need for duplication.
Procedure regarding originality and plagiarism
For the purposes of this policy, originality must be considered from two perspectives: first, as the certainty that the work comes from the person who claims to be its author; second, that it is novel and different from others created previously. The concept of plagiarism also refers to the work or article being distinguishable from copies, forgeries, or unauthorized derivations, or from the unauthorized or inappropriate use of fragments of other works.
It is the responsibility of authors to ensure the originality of the articles submitted to the journal, as well as the accuracy of the data and results included therein, clearly and concisely stating that the contents are original and have not been copied, invented, distorted, or manipulated.
Plagiarism or unauthorized use of content belonging to others or third parties, in all its forms, is totally rejected by the Journal; similarly, multiple or redundant publication is considered a serious breach of ethics.
Authors shall refrain from submitting texts to the Journal that have been submitted simultaneously to another journal; it is possible to publish content that expands on content already published or under consideration, provided that the text on which it is based is duly cited.
Errata
Errata apply only to cases where the journal has made a mistake without the author's knowledge. The author has a number of cases where errors can and must be corrected, such as the author's name, keywords, title, and errors in the main text.
The Journal presents the final proof of the revised article ready for publication to the author by correspondence within a period of one week for review and correction of the article. If the response period expires without a return from the authors, the journal considers the article to be approved (since the author has not expressed the need for changes/corrections) and therefore ready for publication.
Conflict of interest events involving reviewers
Reviewers are responsible for declaring any conflicts of interest that arise in relation to the articles submitted for their consideration.
A conflict of interest arises when, in relation to a work submitted for consideration by a reviewer or members of the editorial team, there is a direct personal or professional relationship with the author, enmity, or any kind of relationship with the research that gave rise to the work, as well as a profound moral or ethical conflict with the subject matter under review. In general, members of the editorial team and external reviewers must refrain from reviewing works when they incur in any of these or similar situations.
The editorial team of the journal will refrain from selecting reviewers who they know are or may be affected by any of the situations mentioned above.
Reviewers' confidentiality statement
Without exception, reviewers must consider their reviews to be completely confidential until publication; therefore, they may not disclose any aspect of their content or personal opinions during the review process or after publication.
It is clear that under no circumstances may the information submitted for consideration be made public or used, nor may any details, arguments, or interpretations contained in the text under review be used for their own benefit or that of third parties. Only in special and duly justified cases may the advice of experts in the field be sought, in which case the Journal must be informed.
Privacy statement
The Journal authorizes the photocopying of articles and texts for academic or internal purposes of the institutions with the proper citation of the source. The names and email addresses entered in this Journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated by it and will not be available for any other purpose or to any other person.
